Career College/ Vocational School

Career Colleges are often referred to as specialty schools or vocational schools. They offer focused, specific job-related training, usually in shorter periods of time than public schools.  Whereas colleges focus on a well-rounded course of study designed to cover a host of subjects, trade schools are focus specifically on the skills you’ll need to perform the job at hand.  These colleges usually offer certificates or associate degrees.

They include schools like the Ex'pression School for Digital Media in Emeryville, DeVry institute in Fremont, Golden Gate School of Court Reporting, Bryman School for Medical Assisting, etc. These schools usually cost more than Community Colleges and the credits earned at them may or may not be transferable to four-year schools.
