ROP has featured on NBC Bay Area.  Watch the video to learn more about these classes:

What is ROP?

ROP classes are career-focused, and combine academics with a hands-on environment, whether it be through in class projects or off-site internships.

ROP classes offered next year include, but are not limited to: Marketing, Economics of Business Ownership, Developmental Psychology of Children, Criminal Justice/ CSI, Automotive Specialist, Automotive Body Repair & Refinishing, Sports Medicine/ Athletic Trainer, Medical Occupations, Nursing Careers, Sports & Entertainment Marketing, Cybersecurity ICT Essentials, Internet Engineering, Principles of Biomedical Sciences, Animation & Motion Graphics, Visual Communications, and Video Game Design.

Benefits of ROP

  • Virtually all ROP classes satisfy a-g college requirements for UC and CSU.
  • Most offer free and transferable college credit at a local community college, in addition to high school credit at LHS.
  • Many programs offer the opportunity to earn nationally recognized certifications which you can use to get a job that will help pay for college or start a career straight out of high school.
  • ROP students have the opportunity to participate in hands-on training in their chosen programs and gain real world experience through job shadows and internships. Students can "try out" a college major or career interest.
  • All ROP classes are electives that count toward high school graduation.

ROP classes are offered at the 5 Tri-Valley high schools: Livermore, Granada, Foothill and Amador Valley in Pleasanton, and Dublin.  If a student has transportation, s/he can take classes offered at other high school sites.

Who Can Take an ROP class?

All ROP classes are open to juniors and seniors.

Selected ROP classes are now open to Sophomores!

The following ROP classes, are open to LHS sophomores next year: Marketing, Sports Medicine/ Athletic Trainer, Introduction to Criminal Justice, Automotive Technology, Auto Body Repair, Developmental Psychology of Children.
